OK, not outdoors related, but I have a few things I need to put in print so I can refer to them often.
1. Do not let others rain on my parade. I mean seriously. I work hard, I plan hard, I do everything I can to be successful in my classroom. I will not let others distract me from that. No one, including administrators, teachers, coaches, or parents. It is just me and the kids. That is all that matters.
2. Do not let the kids lack of motivation get me down. I cannot pass my drive for success to all of them...some, but not all. If they choose to fail, I cannot take it personally.
3. As sad as it is, I cannot expect other adults in our building to have the high expectations that I have. Therefore, I need to only concentrate on the kids in my room.
4. I vow to be more patient. I will not get upset after I have said the same thing 25 times..I will only get upset when the number of repetitions reaches 50....in one day.
5. I vow not to get sucked into negativity. I am getting healthy, I am getting in shape, I am wearing clothes that were put away long ago because they were too small....This needs to carry me through all the bullshit that happens at work. When the negative crap starts, I will excuse myself from the meeting, and go take a walk.
6. Finally, if anyone actually reads this...I had a really pissy day at work. Tomorrow will be a better day.
You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through- Rosalyn Carter.
I'm a firm believer in the "slap-a-kid" program. You should try it out. haha! Just kidding! Glad you're not letting anyone get you down. :)
