Spring Break, 2011, Las Vegas Nevada....day 1

Ahhhh, finally, spring break is here. Saturday morning we loaded up Janet's car and headed to Smyrna to eat lunch and visit with my mom before we left for the airport. Growing up in Smyrna, we both loved to eat at this little restaurant called Fat Boy, they had the best Gyros, foot long chili dogs, Greek salads, and Gyros. The restaurant closed a couple of years ago much to our chagrin, but we found out recently that the son-in-law of the original owner had reopened in a different location, under a different name. We sped down the highway, found the restaurant, parked, went inside and ordered. We both chose Gyros, salad topped with their homemade Greek dressing and a diet coke. I closed my eyes, took the first bite and ohhhh, myyy. Culinary bliss. It was soooo good. I ate every bite, relishing in the deliciousness. On to my moms for a couple of hours, then on to the airport. We parked the car, took the shuttle to the airport, checked our luggage, and were on our way to security. The whole process from the car to the gate took maybe 45 minutes, not too bad at all. We boarded the plane, took our seats, and yay....the seat belt not only fit, I had about 6 inches of excess seatbelt that I didn't need to use. Oh hell yeah!! I also had ALOT more room to move around in my seat, another great benefit of the diet. The flight was uneventful, I managed to sleep maybe 20 minutes, but with all the excitement, I was surprised that I could even close my eyes...I mean after all, Las Vegas is my favorite place on earth.

We picked up our luggage and headed to pick up our rental car. Funny number 1, the attendant at Dollar Rental car said here, let me show you which car you can pick. She walks us through the lot and says you can have any car from the black one to the back. Well, the black car was the Only one in that lot. Kinda made the decision easier, but we both got a good laugh out of that. We headed to the Rio Hotel and Casino, our home for the next 3 nights. Check in was quick and easy, we headed up to our room on the 22nd floor, dropped off the luggage, and headed down to the casino. Nothing big to report here, we gambled a little bit, neither one of us winning or losing too much. We finally decided to call it a day around 1 am.....4 am our time. But who needs sleep right? We are in Vegas!!!! Day 2 coming up...
