This week I completed week 2 in the couch 2 5K program. This weeks plan was for a 5-minute walk followed by 6 intervals of 90 seconds of running, followed by 2 minutes of walking, ending with another 5 minute walk. I was a bit nervous about this week, I know that 90 seconds doesn't sound like alot, but to me it was a big challenge. Due to the huge snowstorm, we got 7 inches of snow overnight on Sunday, I did all 3 workouts on the treadmill. Monday was 1.92 miles, Wednesday was 1.97 and Friday I made it over the 2 mile mark....2.03 miles in 3o minutes of walking/jogging. It was tough, but I made it through all the intervals without cheating on the runs. Today, I wasn't feeling my best, and had alot of excuses ready to keep me from running, but I pushed myself up off the sofa and put the running gear on. And I am glad I did. I felt much better after working up a good sweat.
I tried a different podcast this week http://runningintoshape.com , which I really liked, and I have enjoyed reading the blogs on the site too. Here it is Friday night, and we still have tons of snow and ice...nothing has melted yet. Hopefully all of this will go away, and I can actually get outside next week and run. I am getting tired of the treadmill.
Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to give an update on the diet. According to the scales this morning, I am down 39 pounds since October. I remember telling Sweetpea on our last backpacking trip that I wasn't going bckpacking with her until I lost 40 lbs...well, I think I will be hitting the trail this spring. I can't wait.
Until next time.....
You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through- Rosalyn Carter.
Doing great. Glad you found a podcast that keeps you going and keeps you motivated.
