OK, so I am WAYYYYY behind in posting. I don't know if it is because I am too busy, or too lazy to write. So between the last post and now I have
1. Flown home from Vegas...day 5 wasn't anything special, just a long travel day
2. Hiked the first 16ish miles of the Foothills Trail with my friends Hemlock, Sweetpea, Sammy and Charlie
3. Spent the weekend in Bryson City for my birthday, eating NOC burgers, and hiking Newfound gap to Charlies Bunion and back on the AT. Of all the hiking I have done to date, this section may very well be my favorite section so far, gentle climbs, an amazing ridgewalk, and the view from the Bunion left me speechless.
4. Adopting 2 new baby kitties to add to the menagerie at home....we now have 3 dogs, 4 cats and a rabbit, (and a huge petsmart bill!)
5. Attending my good friend SHOE's going away party. She is leaving the GA traildames and moving to Tennessee, but we are still going to meet up in the Smokies and hike whenever our schedules work out.
6. Being named a charter staff member at the brand new Moore Middle School.
7. Meeting SHOE in the Smokies over Memorial Day weekend for her first backpacking trip post foot surgery. I had a GREAT time.
8. Hiking Hogpen Gap to Cowruck, back to the Whitey Gap shelter and then down to Hogpen Gap with Hemlock, Monica and Diana on a blazing hot day, but I kicked Wildcat Mountains butt from both directions.
9. Leading my first Southeast Women's Backpacking hike on the Bartram Trail. 4 days, 37 miles, with Salt, Monica and Turtle. It was hard, fun, amazing, brutal, hot, cold, rainy, but oh so worth it.
I will now try my best to get back on track with the writing, I have missed it!!
